Mr. Zahid Hussein is the President/Chief Executive Officer of SuRF. He has more than four-decade experience of a variety of development sectors including Education, Health, Population, Nutrition, Family Planning, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Governance, Public Sector, Access to Justice, Gender Justice, Health Education, Promotion and Communication, HIV and AIDS and Participatory Development.

Mr. Hussein has worked with Academy for Educational Development (AED) as Chief of Party, Resident Advisor and Director Social Marketing heading two AED projects in Pakistan; USAID funded Pakistan Child Survival Project (PCSP) and Johnson and Johnson, USA funded Breastfeeding Promotion Project in Pakistan (BPPP) in 1990s in Islamabad, Pakistan. Among donors, he has worked with ADB, AusAID, DFID, GIZ, the UN system and the World bank

Mr. Hussein has earned three Master’s degrees in English, Political Science and Journalism and Certificate in Film Making from Punjab and Stanford universities.


Dr. Nasir Jalil has years of experience in the development sectors in a number of countries including USA, Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Viet Nam, among others. An expert in educational administration and management and education economics, Dr. Jalil has been Chief Technical Advisor and Chief of Party on a number of educational management projects in Pakistan, Nepal and Afghanistan. He has rich donor experience including World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), DFID, among others.

Dr. Jalil has a PhD in Education from Harvard University and Master’s degrees in Economics and International Relations from Quaid-e-Azam University.

 


Dr. Safdar Kamal Pasha looks after HIV and AIDS care, prevention and treatment, sexual and reproductive health, health systems strengthening, community participation, primary health care, among others. Dr. Pasha has an extended and diverse experience of working with the Government, UNFPA and NGOs.

Dr. Pasha has a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) and an MBBS.


Mr. Sheharyar Zahid ensures fusion of information and communication technology (ICT) and sustainable development in order to improve access not only to ICT resources at SURF but also across the communities also to ensure that information and communication for development (IC4D) becomes an affordability reality.

Mr. Zahid has more than 10-year experience with multinational companies; Telenor Pakistan and Pakistan Tobacco Company. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Information Technology (BBIT) from Curtin University, Australia.


Ms. Saadia Pervaiz, an eminent educationist, has Master’s degree in English and Diploma from Punjab and Strathclyde universities. She has more than 30-year experience of educational administration and management, curriculum development, testing, pedagogy and managing large donor-funded projects in Pakistan.     

Ms. Pervaiz brings in an equity based gendered approach to education that spells the way forward for universal primary education and higher education among women in Pakistan paving the way for a developed Pakistan in which a woman has neither to play the second fiddle nor is she to be ostracised out of national development. Her dream is to have women and women working side by side as equals for sustainable development in Pakistan.


Prof. Shahid Zubair, an educationist with close to 40 years of multifaceted higher education management and teaching experience, is also a senior analyst and a celebrated writer on national and international relations. He has taught graduate and post graduate levels in colleges and universities and one of his specialties is to accomplish higher education start-up projects.

Prof. Zubair has a Master's degree in English from Punjab University.


Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rehman, former Professor and Chairperson of Department of Anthropology, Quaid-e-Azam University, has more than three-decade experience of employing anthropology  to understand individual behaviours as well as help plan development interventions leading to child survival and protection, inter-faith harmony, women development, improving nutritional status of women and children, among others.

He has worked with ADB, UNICEF, AED, Government of Pakistan and a number of large NGOs in Pakistan.

Dr. Rehman has a PhD in Social Anthropology.
